Describe your experience of forming the team.
We were formed with initially of Aaron, Anthony, and me. However Ryan and Justin joined in second semester and we worked together to form the Best Firm Ever.
How did you determine who will do what?
We based it off our abilities. For example, Ryan was assigned Design Director because he is good at photoshop and creating Logos. Justin is new so he was in charge of handling the customer relationships. Anthony manages us to get us in check cause he knows how to get us to work. Aaron is good in illustrator and art, so he was the Creative Designer. I can edit our work and critique how the project looks so I was Web Designer.
How was the role decided? Did you have problems with the assignment of the role?
It was mostly based off our abilities and motivation. We did have slower days where we did not do as much, but in the end, we pulled it together and finished the work.
How did you communicate with each other? During class, by email? Collaboratively or individually?
We communicated with each other during class and sometimes when we saw each other on campus, we would ask how the client project was going.
Did you have problems with communication?
Not really. We are good friends so we have access to each other. Furthermore, the clients was our parents so we had good communication.
Did you have quality control? Did your Creative Director overlook the quality of everyone's work?
He did oversee everyone and tell us what needed to be changed and what could stay. He helped me edit and fix some of the photos that weren't sufficient.
With the clients, did you find your own and did our own work or work collaboratively on each project? If so, describe your roles?
We worked collaboratively to complete our projects for our clients. Most of the time, we did individual projects, such as corporate identities for me and we all took over in some part of each other's job. Technically, we worked as a team to complete each other and the leader of each position shared their leadership.
As a team, were you able to meet the satisfaction of your clients by providing professional customer service, quality work and meeting the deadlines? Please share any positive or negative experience and how as a team, you resolve these issues?
We made the deadline for every client project but we had to redo them. I think we did well as a group;however, we misunderstood some earlier directions so it threw us off track. It would help if we were to pay more attention in class and had more consistent work days. However, I think our group was very memorable and sufficient for an amateur design team.
Overall, how well did you work with your team?
We all had a good time and overall, it was pretty fun.
What have you learned? Did you have any regrets? What would you do differently?
I learned an amateur design team is far different from a professional design team. Our works were not bad, but I am positive professional teams would make our designs look bad. I think we probably could have paid attention more and had less slow days to make our team more efficient. Furthermore, we needed more practice with the programs to give us greater control of the design tools.
Rate your overall experience working with your team.
I rate my experience as a 9/10. We had slow days, but in the end we pulled it off and was a great team.
